Neighbourhood Democracy Movement
Northern Heart and Soul exists to take forward a ten year bold vision to become a self organising and self renovating neighbourhood.
When the Covid19 pandemic struck we saw the opportunity to reset. To shift from an industrial growth society to a life sustaining society. We believe the neighbourhood is the primary unit of change and have decided to think big by acting small and starting with what we have.
We are doing this via:
- Hyper local community building - rekindling the function of the neighbourhood in which we live – creating health, keeping hold of wealth
- Wider participatory & deliberative democracy and co-production across the borough
We aim to support the growth of self organised associational life and via that grow new locally owned businesses and community alternatives to services.
