Local Area Coordination

Local Area Coordination is a system where public services work with local communities to recruit one person for a population of no more than 10,000 people who then works in partnership to ensure that nobody is left excluded or in crisis.

They focus on helping people make links to community and ensuring people can make their own decisions and build their strengths. The model started in Western Australia in the late 1980s and is now also found in England, Wales, Scotland, New Zealand, Singapore.
